Mother's Day!

It's Mother's Day and today I am remembering some important women in my life who have passed on...my grandmothers, my great-grandmother, and my best friend's mother who was a second Mom to me.

I remember my paternal grandmother for always being so kind and complimentary to me. I miss her cooking and remember the way she always encouraged us to eat!

I remember my great-grandmother for being 'no nonsense' and loving me with all her heart!
I remember my maternal grandmother really enjoyed musicals and I remember her taking us to see "Oliver Twist" and "Mame" as well as listening to her records-
"The Sound of Music",  "My Fair Lady", and Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella".

I remember Shirley for her sense of humor and dry wit. She was a strong lady who accomplished a great deal in a life too short. I remember how she encouraged my photography.

My own mother was a teacher and I remember helping to set up her classroom each school year. We would sometimes sneak sugar cubes from the teacher's room while we were "helping".

I remember the day when I became a Mom and came to understand...

'When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her children"

"...and What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails
That's what little boys are made of !"

Ruth, Thanks for the beautiful moments of serenity on Mother's Day. I envy your connection with nature and the ability to you have to immerse yourself in it. I have decided that I may ask for your consultation in the near future! You can always teach an old girl a new trick! Lisa (Weaver)
