Fish with a friend day...

Caught my first Bass of the year today! We had an unexpected cold snap...but that didn't stop us from fishing. Not many people around but we saw a snake, a heron, a beautiful red-tail hawk, a cardinal was sitting above us and singing away. We could hear a pileated woodpecker...and then an eagle came...it was huge! Caught some pickerel too! Perfect day if you ask me!

First Goslings this Spring

What excitement I had coming home from work today! The waterfowl paired up earlier and I was wondering when we would see some little goslings...

More NH Moose...

I went up to do some work at the camp yesterday. At about 7:00pm I took a little drive down the road and came upon a cow moose with her yearling calf...

It has been a great spring for wildlife watching...

Barn Charm 82

I am pet sitting while my brother's family is on vacation. I've posted this barn before, but had to stop by and feed the animals on my way back home today.

They have ice cream cones filled with alfalfa pellets and cracked corn. Some of the smarter goats have learned to steal the whole cone!

Playing Possum...

Did you know that there are opossums in New Hampshire? Opossums are the state's only marsupial. They have a long prehensile tail, like a monkey, that aids them in climbing trees. Although they can snarl and open their mouths wide when threatened, they also will feign death and "play possum." Most live out their lives within just a few hundred yards of where they were born.

In New Hampshire, opossums are at the very northernmost edge of their range. Opossums were once thought to not be able to survive such a cold climate, but they just keep plodding north on frostbitten feet.

Moose Watching...

This is video from last Sunday when I went out moose watching. I thought is would be appropriate for Earth Day.

Spring Day...

Sometimes I am filled with a sense of absolutely breathtaking happiness, and in those moments of harmony the world around me begins to look as it really is - balanced and purposeful...

Wild Wild life...

I've been too busy getting new gardens set up to be inside on the computer. I did take some time at sunrise yesterday to go wildlife watching....it was exceptional!
