A couple of North Country Barns...

I 've been spending weekends in the north country of NH. My little camp needs some TLC. We have electricity there but no running water. I have to go down the road to get spring water. I love the barns I pass along the way. I try to make the "water run" early in the morning or closer to sunset. This way I have a better chance of seeing wildlife along the way. Wild turkey, fox, moose and deer are not uncommon and sometimes I see the occasional bear...

Love the first shot of the old water pump! We had a well when I was growing up. It was always fun to pump the water - cold too. :)
Great texture in the fourth shot!

We vacationed in NH/Maine a few years ago. Never saw one moose.
A great capture!

Having to fetch the water must make you appreciate it quite a bit, I imagine. Love your shots! That patched roof is quite the thing.

Great barn. I love the old pump and the moose too. I have visited NH several time, but always in the southern part.

Interesting to find a working old hand pump like that! The state has "shut down" most of the ones I know of round these here parts.

Poor Mr. Moose needs a good brush and curry, no?

The moose still have to get those winter coats off...but last Sunday it was 33 degrees when I got up!
Yes, you sure do appreciate water when you have to tote it!!

I didn't realize there were moose in NH! And don't you get scared walking down the road when there could be bear in the vicinity? YiKeS! That's a beautiful barn, esp w/ the mountains in the background, gorgeous views!

Thank you for joining =)

That old barn roof is a great example of reduce, reuse and recycle. And I remember how sweet the water tastes from those old hand pumps. And such a great photo--so clear and crisp. Good planning for your "water" runs if these are examples of what you see all the time.

You do see great barns along the way!

Love your moose photo. The ones you posted a while back made me insanely jealous... hahaha. But I have finally seen and photographed two of my own. :)

Hey there Ruta, I;m new to your blog and I'm all glad to found it! I very well enjoyed the photos, that was quite old barn but looks pretty cool. The roof design is very ideal, and nor to mention the place looks very inviting. That was indeed a very nice weekend for you!
